The match began with back-to-back decisions in favor of Penn State. At 125 pounds, second-ranked Luke Lilledahl defeated Dean Peterson, while Marcus Blaze topped Drake Ayala at 133 pounds, giving Penn State an early 6-0 lead.
Iowa fought back at 141 pounds as Nasir Bailey secured a 3-2 decision over Braeden Davis, but Penn State quickly responded with a major decision victory for Shayne Van Ness over Ryder Block at 149 pounds.
As the match progressed, Penn State continued to build their lead. PJ Duke's win over Jordan Williams at 157 pounds, and Mitchell Mesenbrink's major decision over Michael Caliendo at 165 pounds, further highlighted the Nittany Lions' dominance.

The highly anticipated showdown at 184 pounds between top-ranked Angelo Ferrari and Rocco Welsh went to tiebreakers, with Welsh edging out Ferrari in a close 2-1 decision.
Penn State's Josh Barr then sealed the victory with a fall at 197 pounds, pinning Brody Sampson in just 3:42. The dual concluded with Cole Mirasola's decision over Ben Kueter at heavyweight, leaving the final score at 32-3 in favor of Penn State.
