Amid rising tensions and protests over violence in Bangladesh, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan finds himself at the center of a heated controversy. Hindu organizations in India have been vocal about their grievances, particularly regarding the presence of Bangladeshi players in the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams. The latest incident involves a bold statement from Meera Rathore, the district president of the All India Hindu Mahasabha in Agra, who made a provocative declaration that has sparked outrage.
In a statement that many found deeply offensive, Rathore threatened to reward anyone who could bring her Shah Rukh Khan's tongue, offering a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. This inflammatory remark was made during a visit to Mathura, where she was providing testimony in the ongoing Aniruddha Acharya Maharaj case. During the exchange, she also physically protested by striking and burning a poster of the actor with slippers, symbolizing her extreme disapproval.
Rathore's comments come in the wake of the tragic incidents in Bangladesh, where Hindu individuals were reportedly killed during disturbances. While the initial focus of the protests was on the violence itself, the involvement of Bangladeshi players in the IPL has inadvertently brought Shah Rukh Khan into the spotlight. The actor, who owns an IPL franchise, has faced harsh criticism for his association with these players.
This is not the first time the actor has faced such scrutiny. Devaki Nandan Thakur, a storyteller, and Sangeet Som, a BJP leader, have previously criticized Khan, even labeling him a traitor. However, the BJP and other political figures have yet to officially respond to these controversial statements.
The situation in Bangladesh has raised concerns among Hindu organizations in India, prompting calls for government action. As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the political parties and the public at large will respond to these escalating tensions.
