Edward Ahmed Mitchell, from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, agrees, calling it "pure racism." He emphasizes that such attacks on a community would never be tolerated if directed at any other group.
Hussein adds, "The Somali residents in the Twin Cities are an integral part of the community. They are hardworking, contributing to the economy and civic life. Stigmatizing them has an immediate impact, eroding trust and causing fear."
